As we look back on this year’s Blood Donation Drive, one thing is clear: Penangites have big hearts.
At Northern Heart Hospital Penang, the first and only purpose-built cardiac and vascular specialist hospital in Penang and the Northern Region, we witness every day the crucial role blood plays for patients with complex heart disease and those requiring major heart and vascular procedures. Behind many of the treatments that restore lives and circulation, stabilise heart rhythm, or help a patient walk out of the ward again, there is a quiet but essential hero in the background: a bag of donated blood.
That’s why we’re so grateful to everyone who showed up and rolled up their sleeves.
Together, our community helped collect over 200 packs of blood in 2025, all of which were contributed to Hospital Pulau Pinang through their Blood Bank. Behind every pack is a patient whose recovery may depend on a timely transfusion, and your generosity is now part of their journey back to health.

Together, we share the same goal: restoring lives, health and confidence for more people in our community.
Wear Your Type with Pride
This year, we wanted to do something a little special for our successful donors. Each donor received an exclusive blood type pin, a small token with a big meaning.
It’s our way of saying: wear your type with pride, because one pint of your blood can help restore up to three lives. Seeing donors’ surprised smiles and the way many of them put the pin on immediately was a real highlight of the day and a reminder that the effort behind organising the drive is truly worth it. We’re already thinking about how to make next year’s drive even more meaningful, with thoughtful touches and small surprises for our donors, so stay tuned.
To Those Who Tried but Couldn’t Donate, You Still Matter to Us
We also want to recognise those who came specifically to donate but couldn’t this time due to health reasons such as low haemoglobin, blood pressure issues, recent illness, or other medical factors.
Please don’t be discouraged, your health always comes first. Take it as a gentle reminder to look after yourself and prioritise early detection.
