At Northern Heart Hospital, our discharge process is a seamless transition designed to ensure patients leave with confidence and clarity. Patients receive thorough guidance on post-discharge care, including medication schedules, follow-up appointments, and lifestyle adjustments. The discharge team coordinates with patients and their families to address any concerns and ensure a smooth transition to home or further care.

You will be discharged by your doctor.

Your doctor and our ward nurses will arrange all necessary paperwork for your discharge.

Once your bill is ready, you will be discharged. Your take home medication (if any) will also be dispensed to you.

Monday – Friday
8:00am – 4:30pm
Weekends and Public Holidays
8:00am – 12:30pm
AFTER HOURS DISCHARGE
If you discharge outside of business hours, you will be directed to settle your bill at the Admission & Discharge Counter and to collect your medication from the Pharmacy (if any) – both of which are located at the Lobby, Level One.
When Can You be Discharged
- When your doctor deems you fit to be discharged, you will be notified by your ward nurse of the necessary arrangements.
- For your safety, please arrange for a family member or friend to pick you from the hospital.
- The discharge process may require some time as the care team completes the following tasks:
- Preparing your reports, bill and your take home medication
- Scheduling follow-up appointments
- Providing counseling on post-discharge care.

- Additional fees will be incurred for discharges after 5:00pm on weekdays, and after 1:00pm on weekends and Public Holidays.
- If you decide to remain in your room beyond your discharge time, additional charges will be applicable.
Health Screening Centre Operating Hours
Monday – Friday
8:30am – 5:00pm
Weekends and Public Holidays
8:30am – 1:00pm
- Additional fees will be incurred for discharges after 5:00pm on weekdays, and after 1:00pm on weekends and Public Holidays.
- If you decide to remain in your room beyond your discharge time, additional charges will be applicable.

Follow-Up Care and Appointment
- Before you depart from the ward, you will receive instructions on self-care during your recovery at home.
- You may be scheduled for a follow-up appointment with your doctor.
- If you require to change or reschedule your outpatient appointment post-discharge, please contact Customer Service at +604 217 5588.
Payment Methods
Self-payment can be completed using any of the following methods:
- Cash (Ringgit Malaysia only)
- Banker’s cheque
- Debit/Credit Card
- Online Bank transfers
- E-Wallet
Refunds
- Refunds will be issued for any overpaid amounts in accordance with the initial method of payment, either in cash, by banker’s cheque, or through credit card.
- Refunds processed on Sundays, state holidays, or public holidays will be completed on the following business day.
- Credit card refunds will be processed within 7-14 business days.
