Dr Tuan Jiun Haur graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2002 and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom in 2005. He then specialised in cardiology and electrophysiology, earning a postgraduate research degree in cardiac electrophysiology from the University of Leicester. He is fully registered as a certified cardiologist in the UK. In recognition of his expertise, Dr Tuan was awarded the prestigious Young Investigator Research Prize at the Annual Heart Rhythm Congress in the UK for his innovative work on the ablation of atrial fibrillation.
With extensive experience in both cardiology and electrophysiology, Dr Tuan has worked at leading cardiac and electrophysiology referral centres across the UK. Upon returning to Penang, he took up the position of Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at Lam Wah Ee Hospital, where he carried out the first AF ablation using a 3D mapping system in Penang in 2013. His expertise lies in treating patients with palpitations and heart rhythm disorders. He is highly skilled in performing a broad range of cardiac procedures, including electrophysiology studies and ablation, pacemaker and defibrillator implantation, cardiac resynchronisation therapy, transthoracic echocardiography, and cardiac catheterisation.
To stay at the forefront of developments in cardiology and electrophysiology, Dr Tuan regularly participates in courses and workshops, ensuring he is well-equipped to meet his patients’ needs. He has presented at numerous national and international conferences and has authored several original research articles, as well as clinical publications in peer-reviewed international journals.
