Dr. Barakath Badusha – Cardiologist at Northern Heart Hospital
Dr. Barakath embarked on his medical career after earning his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from the National University of Malaysia in 1998. He further advanced his expertise with a Master’s in Internal Medicine from the University of Malaya in 2005 and became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in the United Kingdom in 2003. His passion for cardiology led him to complete a Cardiology Fellowship with the Ministry of Health from 2006 to 2009, during which he also specialised in Cardiac Imaging through a fellowship at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia, from 2008 to 2009. Dr. Barakath has held key consultant roles at prominent hospitals, including Penang Hospital, Lam Wah Ee Hospital, and Pantai Hospital, where he has provided dedicated cardiology care. His career reached a significant milestone when he became one of the founding consultants of Northern Heart Hospital, where he continues to offer his expertise. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Barakath has made notable contributions to cardiology research, both locally and internationally. He has participated in research on metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance at the University Malaya Medical Centre, and has been a site co-investigator in major international trials, including the REACH Registry, TAXUS OLYMPIA Registry, RELY, and the Early Acute Coronary Syndrome Trial (EARLY ACS). His research work highlights his commitment to advancing cardiovascular medicine and improving patient outcomes.
