A Holiday Turned Life Saving
For Husin and his family, a short holiday in Penang quickly became a turning point. On their very first night, during dinner, Husin began experiencing chest pain and unease. Given his history of heart disease and a stent procedure just a month earlier, the family knew this was serious.
Since they were already in Penang, they sought immediate help. Friends had spoken highly of Northern Heart Hospital Penang, especially for heart and vascular care, so they registered Husin as a new patient and requested to see Dr. Donald Ang, a name they had heard recommended.
Swift Diagnosis and Compassionate Care
Dr. Donald began with a full heart screening, Electrocardiogram (ECG), stress echocardiogram, and treadmill test. His ability to speak fluent Bahasa Indonesia and Malay immediately put the family at ease. After reviewing the results, Dr. Donald explained that Husin had suffered a heart attack. The previous stent had complications, and his case was more complex than expected. Thankfully, they had come early.
Dr. Donald performed an angiogram and placed a new stent. The next day, he took time to explain everything in detail, answering every question from Husin and his family with patience and care. He reminded Husin that while the stent helped, lifestyle changes were just as important. Husin had already stopped smoking after his last procedure, and Dr. Donald encouraged him to continue.
Multidisciplinary Excellence
The family was deeply impressed by the care at Northern Heart Hospital Penang, not just the medical expertise, but the warmth, clarity, and teamwork. After the procedure, Husin was guided through cardiac rehabilitation and physiotherapy. Every step was explained, every concern addressed.
During the treadmill test, Husin mentioned pain in his legs and had to stop. The team responded immediately, arranging for Consultant Vascular Surgeon Assoc. Prof. Dr. Edward to assess his arteries and veins with a CT scan. It was a true multidisciplinary effort, with doctors working together to ensure nothing was missed.
Support for Indonesian Patients
Beyond medical care, Husin and his family appreciated how the hospital made things easy for Indonesian patients. Insurance coordination, payment support, and language accessibility all contributed to a seamless experience. For them, the treatment was more than just clinical, it was reassurance, respect, and compassion.
A Renewed Hope
Today, Husin is back on medication, feeling stronger, and filled with renewed hope. He is grateful for the care he received and recommends Northern Heart Hospital Penang to anyone facing heart concerns.
His advice to others is clear:
• Don’t ignore symptoms. Chest pain, shortness of breath, or anything unusual should be taken seriously.
• Get checked early. Timely diagnosis can save lives.
• Stop smoking. It’s one of the best decisions you can make for your heart and your future.
Husin’s journey shows how swift action, expert care, and teamwork can turn a holiday scare into a life saving moment. With the guidance of Dr. Donald Ang and the multidisciplinary team at Northern Heart Hospital Penang, Husin found not only treatment but also renewed strength and hope.
Every heartbeat tells a story, and Husin’s is one of vigilance, resilience, and transformation.
