A Life Built Around Sports
For Indrianto, sports have always been more than just a hobby, they are a way of life. From childhood games to marathons and friendly matches, staying active has been central to his identity. That’s why the first time he felt chest pain during a game of table tennis, he knew something wasn’t right.
He sought medical care in Jakarta, undergoing treadmill tests, stress tests, and electrocardiograms (ECG). Yet, the discomfort persisted, leaving him searching for answers.
Choosing Penang for Heart Care
Friends offered advice that would change his path: “If you want a procedure that’s safe, smooth, and well known, go to Penang lah.” Encouraged by their words, Indrianto began planning a trip to Malaysia. Several people recommended Northern Heart Hospital Penang, praising its focus on heart and vascular care, experienced doctors, and complete facilities.
Meeting Dr. Barakath Kareem
Upon arrival at Northern Heart Hospital Penang, Indrianto was given the option to choose his doctor. Trusting his instincts, he selected Dr. Barakath Kareem. That decision proved to be the right one.

The facilities were clean, comfortable, and welcoming. “The hospitality was excellent,” he said, emphasising how much the warmth of the staff contributed to his positive experience.
Advice to Others
Reflecting on his journey, Indrianto offered advice to anyone facing heart concerns:
“Don’t wait. Just go for treatment. We’re lucky to have Penang nearby with such good care available. And of course, take care of your food, your habits, your lifestyle.”
His words highlight the importance of not delaying medical attention and of maintaining healthy routines to protect the heart.
Back to Sports, Back to Strength
Today, Indrianto is grateful to be back doing what he loves most, sports. With renewed strength and confidence, he can enjoy running, marathons, and games with friends without the shadow of worry.
For Indrianto, returning to the court and the track is more than exercise, it’s proof that timely care and trusted expertise can restore not just health, but the joy of living actively.
