Origin: South Sulawesi, Indonesia
Condition: Atrial Fibrillation (AF)
Procedure: Atrial Fibrillation Ablation
Performed by: Dr. Tuan Jiun Haur, Consultant Cardiologist & Electrophysiologist
Discovering the Problem
Tony first learned about his heart condition when he visited a clinic in his hometown in South Sulawesi. Doctors there told him he had an irregular rhythm (unstable heartbeat) and advised him to seek further treatment in Penang. Knowing Penang’s reputation for heart care, Tony began searching online and soon found Northern Heart Hospital Penang. Everything he read convinced him this was the right place to go.
Meeting the Right Specialist
At Northern Heart Hospital Penang, Tony met Dr. Tuan Jiun Haur, a Consultant Cardiologist & Electrophysiologist specialising in electrical disorders of the heart. From the very first consultation, Tony felt reassured.
“Dr. Tuan explained my condition clearly, and whenever there was something I didn’t understand, he took the time to explain it slowly and patiently. Even my family’s concerns were answered with care,” Tony shared. This patience and clarity gave him confidence and peace of mind.
Dr. Tuan emphasised that atrial fibrillation is not just about irregular rhythm, it can increase risks of stroke and heart failure if left untreated. By explaining both the dangers and the solutions, he helped Tony and his family understand why ablation was the best option.
The Hospital Experience
Tony also praised the hospital team. The nurses and staff were friendly, attentive, and thorough. From registration to consultation, every step was smooth and well‑organised. The environment was peaceful, and the service made him feel comfortable throughout his stay.
The Patient Relations team ensured his admission and scheduling were seamless, while the nursing staff guided him through preparation and recovery. For Tony, this level of organisation and kindness made the hospital feel not just professional, but genuinely caring.
The Procedure: Ablation for AF
Dr. Tuan recommended atrial fibrillation ablation, a minimally invasive procedure that targets abnormal electrical signals in the heart to restore normal rhythm. Using advanced mapping and catheter technology, the abnormal pathways were carefully treated, allowing Tony’s heart to beat steadily again.
Knowing that Dr. Tuan had performed many such procedures gave Tony confidence to proceed. The ablation was successful, and Tony’s heartbeat stabilised. For him, this was not just a medical fix, but a restoration of normal life and freedom from the constant worry of irregular rhythms.
Recovery and Reflection
After the procedure, Tony was monitored closely. The recovery was smooth, with minimal discomfort. He was advised to take things slowly, avoid strenuous activity for a short period, and attend follow‑up appointments to ensure the heart rhythm remained stable.
Tony reflected on how different his journey could have been if he had not sought out the right specialist. “I’m grateful I came to Penang. Meeting Dr. Tuan gave me confidence, and the hospital team made me feel safe every step of the way,” he said.
Grateful for Care
Tony is deeply grateful for the care he received at Northern Heart Hospital Penang. “For anyone facing a similar situation, my message is simple: trust your medical team. They’ve handled cases like this many times, and they’re here to keep you safe every step of the way,” he said.
He added that he wouldn’t mind returning to Penang for future check‑ups. “The environment is peaceful, the service is excellent, and I feel well taken care of.”
For Tony, atrial fibrillation ablation was more than a procedure, it was a turning point. With the right doctor, the right expertise, and the right hospital, he regained not only his heartbeat but also his confidence to live fully again.
