Dr. Michelle Kao Pei Ching – Consultant Nephrologist and General Physician at Northern Heart Hospital
Dr. Michelle Kao Pei Ching is a highly skilled Consultant Nephrologist, currently practicing at Northern Heart Hospital, Penang. She completed her medical degree (MBChB) at the University of Dundee in 1999, followed by specialist training in the UK, where she obtained her Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in Renal Medicine in 2011. Dr. Michelle Kao also holds an MD, awarded for her research on the effects of allopurinol on left ventricular mass and endothelial function in patients with chronic kidney disease, a study that has been published in leading medical journals.
With substantial experience in managing acute and chronic renal failure, renal transplantation, and dialysis, Dr. Kao has developed a seamless proficiency in renal biopsies and the placement of central venous catheters, especially for haemodialysis patients. Her expertise extends to managing complex cases of diabetes, hypertension, and cardio-renal syndrome. Having worked in prestigious institutions such as Ninewells Hospital and Medical School in Dundee and the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, she has gained extensive knowledge in both renal transplantation and general nephrology.
Dr. Kao’s research, supported by a British Heart Foundation fellowship, has made significant contributions to improving cardiovascular outcomes in patients with kidney disease.
